Two readers!

Kudos to Allison for reading - you've inspired me to do another post!

Ahh...Labor Day Weekend. Late Thursday night we decided to check to see if we could find a reasonably placed hotel in the mountains for a night or two. We did manage to book a suite in Carbondale, CO which is in between Glenwood Springs and Aspen. Having a suite is key so that we can put Henry to bed or to nap in the bedroom and we can be in the main room. We also found a place that would let us bring Sundance.

It was a lot of fun! We packed in a hurry and hit the road in the middle of the afternoon after Nate got off work.

We had a lovely drive through the mountains with a short stop to visit our friends Pat and Krissy. Saturday was a perfect day in the mountains - clear and mid 70s. We woke up early (well, Henry woke up early and Nate entertained him until I could drag myself out of bed at 6:45). We went for a great hike with a fabulous view of Mount Sopris, had a late lunch at a Mexican restaurant in Carbondale, and spent some time in the world-famous springs of Glenwood Springs. We also managed to squeeze a nap in for Henry. Henry seemed to like the hike in the hiking carrier we have for him, which made it much easier for Nate and I to enjoy the scenery.

The springs were amazing - HUGE and lot of fun. I'd definitely recommend a trip there and I'm sure we'll go again at some point.

Sunday the weather was not as good but we still had a nice day. We drove to Aspen and stopped along the continental divide and a few other spots for some great views. We stopped in Leadville for lunch and then back home.

It was great and I'm glad we pulled it off at the last minute!

I think we got some great pictures and will attempt to post those at some point.

Just for Janet

Okay, so as it turns out Janet read the blog! She's probably the only one, let's see if she's still checking it! Anyone else?

We're finishing up a quiet weekend that involved a decent amount of work related activities for both Nate and I. I did a bit of work from home and Nate spent Saturday day and evening at a conference.

Henry and I managed a trip to the dog park to take Sundance swimming on Saturday and we bought Henry a big boy car seat! He's not quite one yet, but was really too big for his other one. So far so good with the new seat! We'll need another one soon for another car but are giving this one a try to make sure we like it.

On another note, here is a picture of Henry from a month or so ago. I love this one - we just happened to catch him with this thumbs up!

Anyone reading this?

Wow, it's been a while since we wrote on this. I don't know why I thought to even look at it! Does anyone read this anymore? We sort of gave up on it but maybe we'll bring it back.

We're sitting here enjoying the last night of our lovely three day weekend. Henry is sleeping and Nate is reading the paper. Henry was sick all weekend but finally seems to be feeling better. Thank goodness, it's not fun to see your kids so miserable!

That's all for now...not sure if anyone will actually read this!

It feels like Spring!

It was a beautiful weekend in Denver! I've been told of winter days like this, but definitely didn't believe it during last year's winter. It was in the 50s both yesterday and today and with sunny skies it did feel like Spring!

A few highlights from the weekend:
* We went skiing at Arapahoe Basis on Saturday (my first time there) where I continued to hone my skiing skills and Nate continued to be patient. (Nate: She's really good and handled the blues in the new back bowl with deft expertise.)
* We took a cooking class on Saturday night where we helped concoct a shrimp appetizer, chicken and cous cous main course, and banana and chocolate crepes for dessert.
* We went jogging Sunday morning around a lake near our house and were able to witness the police department trying to pull an SUV out of the lake. Apparantly someone decided to go for a little drive on the lake and drove right into an ice-less section. WHOOPS! By the way, this is not a lake anyone drives on to go ice fishing, so I'm not sure what the thought process was. Anyhow, the car was getting mangled as the tow trucks were pulling it out through the ice and it was not an easy task.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed the warm weather continues!

Frozen Fun in Breckenridge

This last weekend, Laura and I spent a really fun three days and three nights with Laura's high school friend Jess, her husband Mike and several of Mike's wonderful extended family. We anticipated skiing Saturday and Sunday with them before heading back home on New Year's Eve while our friends skied at Vail. However, Mother Nature had other plans. The interstate was closed Sunday night and most of Monday!! Luckily, Mike's nice family took us in for another evening and served us a great New Year's Eve dinner.
We certainly enjoyed our weekend with them. The skiing was bitterly cold, windy, snowy and cloudy. However, even a sub-optimal day of skiing is better than just about anything else!
