It feels like Spring!

It was a beautiful weekend in Denver! I've been told of winter days like this, but definitely didn't believe it during last year's winter. It was in the 50s both yesterday and today and with sunny skies it did feel like Spring!

A few highlights from the weekend:
* We went skiing at Arapahoe Basis on Saturday (my first time there) where I continued to hone my skiing skills and Nate continued to be patient. (Nate: She's really good and handled the blues in the new back bowl with deft expertise.)
* We took a cooking class on Saturday night where we helped concoct a shrimp appetizer, chicken and cous cous main course, and banana and chocolate crepes for dessert.
* We went jogging Sunday morning around a lake near our house and were able to witness the police department trying to pull an SUV out of the lake. Apparantly someone decided to go for a little drive on the lake and drove right into an ice-less section. WHOOPS! By the way, this is not a lake anyone drives on to go ice fishing, so I'm not sure what the thought process was. Anyhow, the car was getting mangled as the tow trucks were pulling it out through the ice and it was not an easy task.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed the warm weather continues!

Frozen Fun in Breckenridge

This last weekend, Laura and I spent a really fun three days and three nights with Laura's high school friend Jess, her husband Mike and several of Mike's wonderful extended family. We anticipated skiing Saturday and Sunday with them before heading back home on New Year's Eve while our friends skied at Vail. However, Mother Nature had other plans. The interstate was closed Sunday night and most of Monday!! Luckily, Mike's nice family took us in for another evening and served us a great New Year's Eve dinner.
We certainly enjoyed our weekend with them. The skiing was bitterly cold, windy, snowy and cloudy. However, even a sub-optimal day of skiing is better than just about anything else!
